Ray County Hospital and Healthcare Earns ACR Gold Seal for Mammography

We have news we are proud to share with our community. Ray County Hospital and Healthcare has earned the American College of Radiology (ACR) gold seal of accreditation for mammography, recognized nationally as the gold standard in medical imaging.

For our patients, this means the mammogram you schedule right here in Richmond meets the same high standards for quality and safety you would expect from any leading imaging center.

What earning the gold seal involved

ACR accreditation is not automatic. It is awarded only after a rigorous peer-review process led by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. To earn it, our mammography program was evaluated on:

  • Image quality, so scans are clear and accurate
  • Equipment, which is assessed regularly to confirm it functions properly and uses appropriate radiation doses
  • Personnel qualifications, meaning the people performing and interpreting your mammogram meet ACR standards
  • Quality control and assurance programs that support ongoing improvement

Physicians reading your images also have systems in place to review one another’s work, adding another layer of accuracy. ACR mammography accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Why it matters for you

Early detection is one of the most powerful tools in breast cancer care, and regular mammograms are a key part of that. This accreditation reflects our commitment to making sure that when you come in for your screening, you are getting trusted, expert care without having to travel far from home.
