“When every second counts,
Ray County
Hospital and Healthcare
is my first choice!”

— Sandra Burns

Time is critical when someone is having a stroke. The longer a stroke goes untreated, the more damage can be done to the brain.

Sandra Burns knows this all too well. She’s suffered two acute ischemic strokes in the past two years. Both times, Sandra trusted Ray County Hospital to provide life-saving care. In each case, Sandra was given tPA, a clot-busting medication, to quickly restore blood flow to her brain.

That quick action by Ray County Hospital has not gone unnoticed. In fact, St. Luke’s Hospital recently honored Ray County Hospital for their timely and professional response to Sandra’s most recent medical crisis. Once a stroke patient arrives at an ER, the average response time nationally for administering tPA is 38 minutes. Sandra received hers in just 22 minutes!

“I’ve always trusted Ray County Hospital for all of my medical care,” says Sandra. “My mom worked there for 22 years, so it feels like home to me. I just feel more loved there and more at ease than at any other hospital. The entire staff is so kind and treats everyone with respect. And the doctors are compassionate and take the time to explain everything to me. Plus, I know they have the medical knowledge to do the right thing when every second counts.”
