House Supervisor

House Supervisor: Full-time, 7pm- 3am Monday- Friday

 Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating nursing related, patient care activities for various shifts, including some weekends and holidays.  Ensure the delivery of quality care and is a resource for advice for all staff.  The House Supervisor must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.  The individual must be able to multitask various duties, and at times, provide direct patient care.

Essential Functions: Lead the development of a culture that is driven by the core values of working together to care, deliver, innovate, and serve.

Responsible for providing supervision, leadership, and support to staff, ensuring their success.

Responsible and knowledgeable in assisting and appointing staff to assist with tasks and procedures within all units when required and within scope of practice.

Maintain staffing levels, ensuring appropriate care while being mindful not to incur excess staff.  Assign available staff, assess staffing assignments, and make appropriate modifications to all assignments as necessary based on census and acuity levels.

Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.

Respond to hospital emergencies.  Manage Emergency Operation Plans in emergency/disaster situations. 

Communicate effectively with patients and family members.  Manage various dynamics as they may arise.

Maintain a good working relationship within all departments, clinical and non-clinical of the facility.

Communicate with nursing staff effectively and support team members in handling any issues that may arise in a timely manner. 

Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity.  Identify and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.  Function as liaison between patients, patient’s family members, administration, physicians and other healthcare providers.

Give and receive report on facility activities.  Rounds on all nursing departments daily.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, associate degree at the minimum. 
  • Current State of Missouri Registered Nurse Licensure unencumbered.
  • Three (3) or more years of previous experience in nursing preferred.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification.
  • Successful completion of arrhythmia course or ability to obtain within a year of hire
