We are proud to welcome Geoffrey Mandala, MBA, as Chief Financial Officer for Ray County Hospital and Healthcare. Geoff joins our team with more than 12 years of experience in finance, including eight years in healthcare leadership, and a deep, personal commitment to the future of rural healthcare.
Geoff has held CFO and operational leadership roles at critical access hospitals across several regions of the country, most recently serving as CFO of a critical access hospital in Wisconsin. That breadth of experience has given him a balanced perspective on the trends shaping rural healthcare and a clear sense of how different communities meet similar challenges. He is now bringing that experience to Richmond. We will let Geoff share what drew him here, in his own words.
Care Close to Home
For Geoff, rural healthcare has always been personal. He understands the role a community hospital plays and what it means for patients to receive care close to home and close to family.
“Rural healthcare has always held a special place for me. I deeply understand the role these hospitals play in their communities and what it truly means for patients to receive care close to home, close to family. In a small town, your patients aren’t strangers; they’re your family, your friends, and your neighbors. It’s personal, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
A Balanced Perspective
Geoff comes to Ray County having worked with rural hospitals in several parts of the country, an experience that shapes how he approaches the challenges facing critical access hospitals today.
“With a background in healthcare finance and operations, I’ve had the privilege of working with a large health system in Montana overseeing the finances of their Critical Access Hospitals, and serving as CFO at large CAHs in both Idaho and Wisconsin. Having worked across different regions of the country, I’ve gained a balanced perspective on the national issues and trends shaping rural healthcare, picking up valuable insight on how different organizations tackle similar challenges.”
Here to Stay, and Built to Thrive
Geoff firmly believes that rural hospitals can be financially healthy and sustainable, and that a strong hospital means more for the community it serves. He also believes finance should not live in the back office.
“I’m excited to bring those experiences to Ray County and help this hospital not just survive but thrive as a pillar of this community for generations to come. I firmly believe that rural hospitals can be financially healthy and sustainable. A financially strong hospital means the ability to reinvest in our staff, our equipment, and our facilities, which ultimately translates to better care for the community. By making a point to round regularly and be present with staff, we create a collaborative approach where finance is a true partner to clinical and operational teams, making the whole organization stronger.”
Planting Roots in Richmond
Geoff and his family are relocating to Ray County, and they could not be more excited to make Richmond their home.
“My family and I couldn’t be more excited to plant roots here in Richmond. We have three young kids who are ready to grow up in a small-town community that we can make our home. We plan to get involved and be present, not just at work, but out in the community alongside the people we’ll get to call our friends and neighbors.”
Please join us in giving Geoff and his family a warm welcome to the Ray County Hospital and Healthcare community.
