Outpatient Clinic/Infusion Center Nurse Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Leads the practice of the outpatient clinics including cardiac rehabilitation, specialty clinics and infusion center.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current and unrevoked RN license in Missouri
  • BSN preferred
  • ACLS Certification
  • PALS Certification is preferred
  • Chemotherapy administration Certification preferred
  • 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient clinic setting is preferred
  • 2 years in a clinical management position is preferred
  • Must have attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, ability to prioritize and problem solve, ability to mathematically compute and convert drug concentrations and doses
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products
  • Overall Knowledge of: Healthcare theory and practice, general policies and procedures in healthcare, best practices in healthcare that produce safe and high quality of care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the development of a culture that is driven by the core values of working together to care, deliver, innovate and serve.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the department and serves as a role model within the organization
  • Participates in meetings, committees, and projects as required
  • Participates in the development, monitoring and effective managing of the annual operating clinic budgets
  • Monitors and controls expenditures to remain within budget
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department
  • In partnership with Human Resources, interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates staff
  • Manages staff performance and evaluations including supervising, coaching, and disciplinary action
  • Assures a sufficient number of qualified and competent personnel to provide services
  • Produces/supervises scheduling and arranges daily assignment of duties for clinic staff to accommodate patient volume and Provider support to maximize service
  • Approves/denies leave requests and reviews and approves timecards of direct reports
  • Coordinates, provides and documents staff trainings, continuing education, competencies and monthly staff meetings
  • Mentors and coaches’ staff in their professional development and interpersonal relations, developing an effective teamwork approach
  • Directs day-to-day functions of the clinic staff and its programs and activities to ensure compliance, efficiency, and patient satisfaction
  • Coordinates and integrates the outpatient clinic’s services within the department and with other departments
  • Serves as liaison for staff of the department in explaining, communicating, and implementing policies, procedures, operations, and strategic plans.
  • Resolves operational issues and implements necessary plans of action for correction
  • Manages patient scheduling and wait times for appointments to provide appropriate access to care
  • Addresses issues raised by physicians, employees, and patients and seeks out appropriate leaders or partners to problem solve and process improve
  • Communicates any medical staff concerns leadership
  • Participates in selecting outside sources of services needed by the department
  • Develops business and marketing plans for the department.
  • Establishes and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems for the assigned clinical areas
  • Plans, organizes, controls and supervises activities in the outpatient clinic according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and State and Federal laws
  • Ensures the department is conducted in accordance with accepted ethical and professional standards
  • Maintains appropriate quality control programs and ongoing data reporting requirements
